As part of an ongoin campaign to highlight the importance of staying warm in the winter months, the event was organised by St Helens Senior Voice Forum, in partnership with St Helens Council, and followed two successful events in Rainhill last month.
Experts were on hand to discuss how to change tariffs, while the council’s Healthy Living and Affordable Warmth teams gave advice on staying fit, safe, warm and well over the winter months.
St. Helens Senior Voice, said: “It came to our attention that Rainhill had the highest rate of excess winter deaths in the
borough, closely followed by Billinge, Eccleston and Rainford and we just had to respond.
“Our colleagues at the council rallied round and pulled out all the stops to enable us to deliver vital information to the older people in Rainhill and Billinge on how to keep warm and well this winter.
“We’re delighted at how well these events have been received and plan to deliver similar events in Eccleston and Rainford this autumn.”
